Mission StatementMissionTo educate the public and the medical community about lupus, to push for earlier, life-saving diagnoses for those afflicted, and to spur governments and foundations to fund research toward a cure. VisionThe Big PictureBy 2013, Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus is a viable, highly recognized and respected foundation that is changing the way the medical community, pharmaceutical companies, those impacted by lupus, and the general public understand the disease, its diagnosis and its treatment. In 2013, people impacted by lupus feel better supported, treated and understood than they did five years before – a direct result of the work of Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus. Our outreach, education, marketing and advocacy strategies assist people with lupus to seek help and receive early diagnosis and treatment. Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus is giving 90% of the dollars they raise to their programs. Foundation fundraising has increased 100% over the last four years. Major corporations, individuals, and foundations are joining the fight, by both giving funds and participating in our outreach efforts. Powerful technology will create inventive approaches to fundraising, awareness building, advocacy and marketing and will build the Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus brand in the philanthropic community. Each year, over 20,000 people in the Portland, Oregon area will attend “Serving Up Style,” the foundation’s signature event. Meanwhile, other West Coast communities will host Serving Up Style events. Several national and international publications will highlight the event for its innovative style and fun approach to public awareness building. The "Butterfly" will become identified as the symbol for the fight against Lupus, much like pink has become a symbol for the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s Race for a Cure for Breast Cancer. Board of DirectorsThe Board of Directors of Molly's Fund Fighting Lupus will include leaders in the medical community, pharmaceutical companies, financial institutions, philanthropic community and the media. The board will be supported by a highly qualified, full-time staff that efficiently and effectively implements the visions and goals of the board. The board and staff will possess a deeply-rooted understanding of the budget and general accounting principles guiding the organization. This commitment, knowledge, and expertise will continue to ensure the sustainability and vitality of the foundation. |
